The artist includes the crowd of supplicants gathered around the Virgin, but without the cape with which she is usually shown to shelter them. As usual, angels place a crown on her head. The inscription asks the viewers to pray for the supplicants who look to the Virgin from TARTARA (i.e. Purgatory).
